The purpose of the Society shall be to provide shelter, prevent cruelty to animals, and advocate for their welfare. Through humane education, the Society strives to enlighten the public with the goal of improving the quality of life for animals and people.

Broken Tail Rescue, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit animal rescue organization run by a group of dedicated volunteers in Massachusetts.

The Tipsy Tabby
The Tipsy Tabby offers coffee,
tea and baked goods, (and a bit of liqueur) in a cozy cafe where adoptable cats live and play.

Pat Brody Shelter for Cats
Pat Brody was a Lunenburg resident who founded her shelter for cats in 1984 as a means to help local strays. Unfortunately, Pat died of cancer in 1991, so shelter volunteer Priscilla stepped up to become director and keep Pat's vision alive. Pricilla remains the shelter director today, and together with a group of dedicated volunteers, they are able to help about 600 cats a year using only their adoption fees and donations. Their labor of love is reflected in the good health and upbeat attitudes of the shelter’s feline population.
Community Teamwork
Community Teamwork was established in 1965 as part of President Lyndon B. Johnson’s War on Poverty and the Economic Opportunity Act of 1964.
Today, Community Teamwork’s mission is much the same as it was in 1965. As Greater Lowell’s Community Action Agency, we mobilize resources for low-income people, providing opportunities for them to achieve stability, self-sufficiency and have an active voice and participation in the decisions that affect their lives.
