Frequently Asked Questions

Cat

Can I Bring My Cat?

Unfortunately, no. Cats in the lounge will have a gradual introduction to the space & time to acclimate. As cats are adopted and new cats are brought in, they’ll also have a slow introduction before being allowed to roam free in the lounge room. If the cat seems too stressed (by the other cats or the constantly changing human visitors), they’ll head back to the shelter or off to another foster home. My #1 concern is that the cats are happy & everyone is SAFE.

When Are You Opening?

While I’d love to answer this one with 100% certainty, the truth is I can’t. I wanted to open some time in October, but it could very well be January. There is LOTS of work that needs to be done inside the space & I still need funding. The timeline is at the mercy of a lot of factors outside my control, but trust me when I say I’m as eager to get the Lazy Cat Lounge Lowell open as you are to visit. I promise to provide updates as soon as I have them.

Are You Hiring?

Given the fact that I don’t have an opening date yet, I am not looking to hire anyone at this time. When I do start the hiring process, I’ll be looking for a few experienced baristas, retail cashiers, and cat care assistants. When the application process starts, I’ll be announcing it via my newsletter and my social media channels.

Is There an Age Limit?

Unfortunately, yes. For the safety of both the cats & our guests, we’ve decided that visitors must be age 8 or older to enter the cat lounge room. Children ages 8-12 will need to be accompanied by an adult & supervised at all times. We are planning to host some special events for younger visitors, which will involve learning about cats & how to interact safely with them.

Our staff will always reserve the right to ask visitors to leave if we feel the cats are being harassed or mistreated by visitors of ANY age.

Why is There a Fee?

The Lazy Cat Lounge Lowell will provide our cat guests with a clean, safe, cage-free, caring environment where they can await their forever homes. We will provide food, litter, cleaning supplies, daily care & valuable socialization to the cats to help take some of the burden off of our rescue partners. Some cats may even stay with us permanently! However, the shelter/rescue will facilitate the adoptions, thus collecting all donations and adoption fees. In the end, we are a small business needing to pay for rent, insurance, utilities, staff salaries & supplies to provide you with this amazing, unique experience! We plan to donate a portion of each cat lounge admission fee to our rescue partners. Discounted admission will be offered to students, veterans & seniors!

What's on the Menu?

The Lazy Cat Lounge Lowell will serve hot & cold coffee, espresso & tea drinks through a partnership with Atomic Coffee. We’ll also have fountain sodas, flavored lemonades & seasonal drinks. Due to health department regulations, no food will be prepared onsite. But we will offer lovely, locally sourced baked goods for purchase, as well as chips and other grab-and-go snack items.
